Just a place
Start from relationships and boundaries first. Useful for homes, shops, gardens, cabins, and places that are not wired yet.
Start with a place
HomeLog does not need a full smart home plan. Name the place, add the people who matter, then connect one useful signal when it is ready. The first useful moment is when HomeLog asks for the right action at the right time.

The first live loop is simple: you arrive, HomeLog asks whether to open the gate, you confirm, HomeLog acts, then the moment is remembered quietly.
A motorized gate can be a practical first wedge. One relay can let HomeLog ask before opening, remember what happened, and keep access bounded. Other first signals can come from a light or small sensor.
If you already have a Shelly and a gate or relay, you can set it up yourself — come home, and HomeLog greets you first, then asks whether to open the gate. The full guide walks you through it, step by step.
